This has been a Conference of the Society for Women in Philosophy (SWIP-UK), the main organizer has been Soran Reader, with a wonderful team from SWIP. Thank you so much, Soran!
It also was a first possibility to present the book and especially my essay on Third Feminism. As you can imagine Third Feminism is interpreted differently in different countries. In the US there exists a Third Wave debate at least since the 1990ies (Hypathia Special from 1997). In Germany recently a new feminism has been launched, from women who do not seem to be so conscious about the history of feminism. Sometimes it is even called Third Wave, I do not know for which reasons.
One important issue of Third Feminism is to continue with what feminist mouvements have started and to be aware of history, to continue this history (herstory) - and to be grateful for the achievements of those women.
The Feminism of Difference, mainly rooted in Italy and France is not as wellknown in English speaking countries as it should be. We have to work on that, too.
So the main issue is to bring together the ideas of equality and difference and to be aware of how they are related.
An exciting discussion has started in London. It feels very good to come back to the basic ideas of the feminist mouvement.
